Cohort study of association of BRAF variants with disease characteristics and outcomes in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma
BRAF
variants are associated with tumor progression. A cohort study at Fudan University (Shanghai, China) investigated the association of BRAF variants with disease characteristics, prognosis, and targeted therapy response in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). There were 20 different BRAF variants
in 4.2% of the tumors. Patients with BRAF V600E variants, but not with other variants, had worse outcomes compared with patients without BRAF variants. In patient-derived oragnoids and cell lines, broad differences were seen between differen BRAF variant subtypes in sensitivity to BRAF or MEK inhibitors.
