Cohort study of association between kidney function and cancer risk
Dr. Jennifer Lees
Cancer is more common in people with kidney failure. Mild kidney disease (GFR 60-89 ml/min/1.73m2) may be present in one third of the population, is usually asymptomatic, and is monitored infrequently. A cohort study using data from the UK Biobank found that mild kidney disease based on levels of cystatin C and albuminuria was associated with risk of incident cancer and cancer death.
