Burkitt lymphoma is an aggressive B-cell lymphoma requiring intensive therapy, which places patients at risk for severe toxicity. A retrospective trial among Burkitt lymphoma patients aged 40 years or older at Massachusetts General Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute found that nearly half of these patients experienced an unplanned hospitalization, with around a quarter of patients experiencing an intensive care unit admission. Adults aged 70 years or older were at higher risk of death during treatment.
