Circulating tumor DNA after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer is associated with disease relapse
Dr. Michail Ignatiadis
Detection of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) for early-stage breast cancer may allow for early detection of relapse. A study at Jules Bordet Institute (Brussels, Belgium) using a personalized, tumor-informed multiplex polymerase chain reaction-based next-generation sequencing assay, found that the presence of ctDNA after NACT was associated with event-free survival. The authors conclude that these results support interventional trials for testing the clinical utility of ctDNA monitoring in this setting.
