Chemoradiotherapy with liposomal paclitaxel plus cisplatin for locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
Prof. Kailiang Wu
A retrospective study at Fudan University (Shanghai, China) evaluated efficacy and feasibility of chemoradiotherapy with liposomal paclitaxel and cisplatin for locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (LA-ESCC) in patients not undergoing surgery. The regimen had promising activity. The most common grade 4 toxicity was neutropenia (30.8%) followed by lymphopenia (20.5%), while 10.3% had grade 3-4 esophagitis. The authors conclude that CRT using liposomal paclitaxel and cisplatin is a well-tolerated and effective treatment regimen for LA-ESCC.
