Breast cancer-related lymphedema: risk factors and racial or ethnic disparities
Dr. Andrea Barrio
Risk factors for breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) after axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) are poorly understood. A prospective BCRL screening study at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York, NY) found that black race, Hispanic ethnicity, receipt of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, older age, and longer follow-up were independently associated with risk of BCRL after ALND.
