Bevacizumab plus irinotecan with or without gamma knife radiosurgery after failure of CCRT for high-grade glioma
Prof. Se-Hoon Lee
Temozolomide-based concurrent chemoradiotherapy is a standard first-line treatment for high-grade glioma. After failure of this treatment, second-line options have limited value. A retrospective study at Samsung Medical Center (Seoul, South Korea) found that bevacizumab plus irinotecan was well-tolerated and moderately effective in patients with high-grade glioma after failure of concurrent chemoradiotherapy. Addition of gamma knife surgery prior to bevacizumab-irinotecan led to a significant OS benefit with a manageable safety profile.
