Axicabtagene ciloleucel for relapsed or refractory indolent non-Hodgkin lymphoma: five-year follow-up of ZUMA-5
Prof. Sattva Neelapu
The multicenter phase 2 ZUMA-5 trial evaluated axicabtagene ciloleucel (axi-cel) for relapsed/refractory indolent non-Hodgkin lymphoma (R/R iNHL). Five-year follow-up results of the trial have now been published. The overall response rate was 90% (complete response 75%) with a median duration of response 60.4 months. The median progression-free survival was 62.2 months; median time to next treatment and median overall survival were not reached. At data cutoff, 55% of patients were alive without requiring subsequent anticancer therapy. Late-onset toxicities were infrequent and largely unrelated to axi-cel. The authors conclude that these findings confirm efficacy and safety of axi-cel for R/R iNHL.
