Atezolizumab after chemotherapy in resected stage IB-IIIA NSCLC: five-year survival outcomes of IMpower010
Dr. Enriqueta Felip
The multinational phase 3 IMpower010 trial randomized patients with resected stage IB-IIIA after adjuvant chemotherapy to one year of atezolizumab or best supportive care (BSC). Results after ≥ 5 year follow-up have now been published. The stratified HR for DFS (atezolizumab versus BSC) was 0.85 (95% CI 0.71-1.01) among all patients, 0.83 (0.69-1.00) among stage II-IIIA patients, and 0.70 (0.55-0.91) among stage II-IIIA PD-L1 tumor cell ≥ 1% patients. The authors conclude that IMpower010 is the first study to report survival outcomes with a ≥ 5 year follow-up and continued to show benefit with atezolizumab versus BSC after adjuvant chemotherapy in patient with resected stage II-IIIA PD-L1-selected NSCLC.
