Association of simultaneous vs delayed resection of liver metastasis with complications and survival among adults with colorectal cancer
Prof. Sanjun Cai
There is no consensus on simultaneous versus delayed resection of synchronous liver metastasis (SLM) with primary colorectal cancer (CRC). A multicenter study in China compared outcomes of simultaneous resection of SLM and CRC versus delayed resection of SLM. There was no significant difference in major perioperative complications. Simultaneous resection was associated with longer OS and CSS compared with delayed resection. This survival benefit with simultaneous resection was seen among patients with KRAS wild-type tumors but not among patients with KRAS-alterated tumors.
