A prospective cohort study of health care professionals in the US found that screening endoscopy among individuals older than 75 years was associated with lower risk of CRC incidence an CRC-related mortality. However, screening endoscopy was not associated with a benefit in CRC-related mortality among individuals with a history of cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors. The authors conclude that these data support continuing screening after 75 years of age among individuals without significant comorbidities.
