Association of plasma EBV DNA with outcomes of anti-PD-1 therapy for recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Anti-PD-1 immunotherapy induces a durable response and improved survival in a small subset of patients with recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (RM-NPC). There is a need of effective biomarkers to identify patients who are likely to gain long-lasting clinical benefits from anti-PD-1 therapy for RM-NPC. Analysis of the cohort of the Chinese POLARIS-02 study showed that plasma Epstein-Barr virus DNA could be a useful biomarker for outcomes and monitoring disease progression.
