Mammographic density (MD), which is the reflection of the proportion of fibroglandular tissue in the breast, is a well-known risk factor for breast cancer development. There are conflicting data regarding the association of MD in breast cancer patients with risk of ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence and contralateral breast cancer.
