Association between availability of genotyping results and overall survival in advanced nonsquamous non-small cell lung cancer
Dr. Charu Aggarwal
Current guidelines recommend molecular genotyping for patients newly diagnosed with metastatic nonsquamous non-small cell lung cancer. The association between availability of genotyping results before first-line therapy and overall survival is not known. A real-world cohort study at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) found that in the group of patients with availabe testing results, the median OS was significantly longer compared with the group of patients without these results (aHR 0.43; p<0.0001). The adjusted odds of availabilty of results before first-line therapy was higher with concurrent tissue and plasma testing (versus tissue testing alone; aOR 2.06; p=0.26).
