Adjuvant capecitabine following concurrent chemoradiotherapy for locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma
Prof. Chong Zhao
Induction or adjuvant chemotherapy with concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) are first-line options for treatment of locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LA-NPC). Adjuvant platinum regimens are poorly tolerated. A randomized clinical trial at three centers in China evaluated adjuvant capecitabine versus observation after CCRT for LA-NPC with high-risk factors. Adjuvant capecitabine was well tolerated and improved failure-free survival (primary endpoint) and locoregional relapse-free survival.
