Addition of bortezomib to first-line dexamethasone, rituximab, and cyclophosphamide for Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia

A multinational prospective randomized trial evaluated addition of bortezomib (B) to first-line dexamethasone-rituximab-cyclophosphamide (DRC) for Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia (WM). The study showed that B-DRC is a highly efficient regimen in this setting, inducing deep and fast responses. Because of potential neurotoxicity, individual patient characteristics should be taken into account before adding B to DRC.
