The multinational phase 3 monarchE trial showed that addition of abemaciclib for two years to adjuvant endocrine therapy for HR-positive, HER2-negative high-risk early breast cancer reduced the risk of recurrence. A preplanned interim analysis two years after the primary analysis found that this benefit was sustained beyond the completion of treatment with an absolute increase at 4 years: IDFS rate 85.5% with abemaciclib plus endocrine therapy versus 79.4% with endocrine therapy alone (HR 0.664; p<0.0001).
