A novel 14-gene expression signature associated with prostate cancer metastasis and postoperative recurrence
Prof. Karina Sørensen
Novel biomarkers are needed to improve prostate cancer risk stratification at diagnosis. A study at Aarhus University Hospital (Denmark) investigated a novle 14-gene signature (‘Cap14’) linked to metastasis in a patient cohort that underwent 68Gallium prostate-specific membrane antigen PET/CT imaging for primary staging. Using mRNA sequencing and modelling, CaP14 was succesfully trained to differentiate betwee metastatic and localizaed disease. Notably, metastasis and reduced survival were associated with a high CaP14 scroe, suggesting that CaP14 could facilitate risk stratification and personalized treatment (visual abstract).
