18F-fluciclovine-PET/CT imaging for guiding postprostatectomy salvage radiotherapy for prostate cancer
The randomized phase 2-3 EMPIRE-1 study evaluated addition of 18F-fluciclovine-PET/CT imaging to conventional imaging (bone scan and either CT or MRI) to guide postprostatectomy salvage radiotherapy for prostate cancer. The three-year event-free survival was 63.0% in the group with conventional imaging versus 75.5% in the group with conventional imaging plus 18F-fluciclovine-PET/CT imaging (p=0.0028). Toxicity was similar in both groups.
